1821: John HEALD (later HEALDS) of Batley, YKS
Born 19 Sep 1802, the son of Joseph HEALD and Hannah, and baptised at Batley on 17 Oct 1802 (link), John HEALD (or HEALDS) was convicted at West Riding Quarter Assizes Yorkshire on the 30th of April 1821 for larceny. At the time of sentencing John was eighteen, of height five foot seven and a half inches tall, with a florid freckled complexion and red hair and grey eyes. In the shipping list he gave his occupation as a coalminer.
On the 24 Jan 1833 John married (in Sydney) an Anne MOODY who was born in County Tyrone N.Ireland about 1807. Anne was convicted of vagrancy in Londonderry on 5 Aug 1828 and sentenced to 7 years transportation. They had five children: Joseph b 1834, John b 1837, Jeremiah b 1839, Jane b 1840 and James b 1842. John Healds died in July 1859.

1844: George HEALD of Wakefield, YKS
Baptised 20 March, 1814 St John, Wakefield (link). Mother listed as Maria, no fathers name given on IGI index. Married Hanna HEY 12 August, 1833, Sandal Magna (link). Two daughters Maria baptised 8 July, 1834 at Rothwell (link) and Christiana baptised 10/16 July 1836 at Rothwell (link). On George's convict papers it is stated he had a brother but not named.
George was tried at York Assizes on 10 July 1844, found guilty of burglary, and transported for 20 years. (The other defendants were Joseph and James Hudson, James Glover, George Fisher and Charles Gomersall). Sent to Norfolk Island on "Hydrabad" and then to Van Diemens Land. Interested in any information on George Heald or what became of his first family. I have information on George Heald's life and family after 1845 when he was transported.
